Mark E. Damon, CPA, MACC

Managing Partner

Mark grew up in San Diego, California until his family transitioned to Southern Oregon where he attended high school.  He received his B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting) from Oregon State University in early 2002.  Upon graduation he accepted a position as an Audit Associate at Grant Thornton LLP where he was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 2003.  His clients at Grant Thornton ranged from a small publicly traded entity to large municipals in the Portland metropolitan area.  Mark left Grant Thornton to pursue his Masters of Accounting at the University of Oregon (UofO) in late 2004.  Upon receiving his Masters of Accounting, he accepted a position in Portland, Oregon with Ernst & Young where he spent several years as a Senior Auditor and Manager.

After his time at Ernst & Young, both he and his wife decided to move back to Southern Oregon.  Mark accepted a position at Pacific Retirement Services (a multistate non-profit provider of senior services). Mark spent almost four years at Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) as the Vice President and Corporate Controller where he oversaw 50+ operating entities (and accounting for over $1.5 Billion in assets and multiple tax-exempt bond financings).  During his tenure at PRS, Mark was intimately involved with large scale developments in Portland and Seattle which totaled approximately $520 million, acquiring invaluable experience with several different financing structures and financial derivatives.

After years in private industry, Mark decided it was time to move back into public accounting.  Mark joined KDP Certified Public Accountants, LLP (KDP or the Firm) in September of 2012 as a Principal and was made Partner in January 2013.  In early 2014, Mark earned the position of Managing Partner when he led the operational aspects of a merger between Michael L. Piels CPAs and Kosmatka Donnelley and Co.  Since 2013, the firm has grown from approximately 13 team members to over 55 team members.  Mark also serves as the Managing Member of the firm's real estate arm in which he led the development and construction of the firm's new office location at 841 O'Hare Parkway.

Mark continues to lead many of KDP's largest assurance and consulting projects, focusing on creating business solutions for an array of organizations.  Mark's blend of experience between public accounting and industry provides a unique and balanced understanding of the pressures and complexities faced by organizations in today's business climate. His in-depth knowledge and background involving both internal best practices and external compliance requirements allows him to develop innovative solutions to complications confronting clients.

Mark's community and professional involvement includes former Chair of the Southern Oregon Chapter of the Oregon Society of CPAs, former Finance Committee member of Asante Health System, former Board Member (Secretary) of the Oregon Society of CPAs, current Vice Chair of the Britt Gardens Music and Arts Festival, Member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Outside the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife their two children. He also enjoys mountain biking, travel, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
